About

Georgie Bailey (née Booker) 1968 - 2022

Time has a way of painting over the raw edges of grief, yet each of us understands the depth of a void left by an irreplaceable soul. It’s been a year since we lost the vivacious Georgie, one of the worlds brightest shinning lights, known to many as Georgie Bailey. To Geoffrey, her partner in life and love she was the endearing ‘My Love’. To Emily Bailey and Alec Bailey, she was the nurturing ‘Mum’. Graeme Booker cherished her as ‘my daughter’, and to Adam Booker and Murray Booker, she was an unwavering guiding star,  “our big sister”

Every one of us has or will encounter a ‘Georgie’ in our journey—a soul so luminous that even life’s darkest trials can’t overshadow their spirit. On 31 August 2022, as dawn’s first light painted the sky, Georgie took her place among the stars, leaving an earthly legacy that touches all who knew her, and even those who didn’t.

Perhaps as you read this, a face, a memory, or an emotion surfaces, echoing the universal experience of love, loss, and remembrance. It’s the Georgies of the world who remind us of the indelible marks we leave behind. And in Georgie’s case, she has left us more than just memories. Her memoir, a poignant reflection of her journey, is being lovingly pieced together. Soon, it will be a testament, allowing us all to walk beside her in her most intimate moments.

Until then, delve deeper into the final chapters of a life that resonates with so many:

The Feeling of The Naked Truth by Georgie

“We enjoy our yummy meal in our apartment that evening, watching the Parisian night sky out our windows, sipping on lovely wine and flicking through the many charming books on the shelves. I lose myself in imagining living here, having a gorgeous little apartment with everything at my doorstep. I paint a little picture on my ipad to celebrate this apartment and to capture the feeling of the naked truth of being in it. Here in this apartment, here in Paris I feel pretty, soft, elegant, real, grounded like I belong. In some ways it is a confusing feeling, I have never before felt like I have belonged anywhere. On the other hand, there is simply a feeling of “of course” a knowing, a clarity of understanding after 40 odd years of not knowing.

I love our little place, I love everything about Paris, I am at once very settled and weirdly slightly unsettled about feeling settled….does that make sense? There is so much newness here but at the same time a deeply spiritual sense of being home. It is a feeling I cannot quite explain.”

In Memoriam: Georgie Bailey | Grants Management Consultant

A year has passed since we lost the remarkable Georgie Bailey, a guiding star in the field of Grants Management based in Canberra, Australia. As we reflect on her unmatched legacy, we are reminded of the expertise and passion she brought to every project.

As the leading Grants Management Consultant and a dedicated SmartyGrants Consultant, Georgie’s impact extended across various sectors. She collaborated with a myriad of organisations that disbursed grants – be it government entities at federal, state or local levels, philanthropic institutions, other grant-making organisations, or corporate entities.

At the heart of Georgie’s success was her unique approach. She pioneered a methodology that facilitated collaboration and understanding of business needs, laying the foundation for Improved Grantmaking and Business Processes. By merging these insights with her expert grant-making experience and the sophisticated SmartyGrants – Grants Management System, she revolutionised the field. Her contributions led to enhanced efficiencies, reduced costs, and the creation of a resilient audit process, among many other benefits.

For organisations that had their grant-making strategies in place and sought only a superior Grants Management System, Georgie’s expertise with SmartyGrants was unparalleled. Drawing from her own experiences as a SmartyGrants user, she tailored the system to ensure that it not only met but surpassed the expectations and requirements of her clients. Her collaboration with the SmartyGrants Delivery and Support teams ensured an impeccable implementation every time.

Beyond her technical skills, Georgie’s strategic leadership was a culmination of years leading prominent teams, particularly in the Commonwealth Government grants administration. She played an instrumental role in the implementation and transformational introduction of SmartyGrants across 25 grant programs for The Australian Department of Communications and the Arts. A testament to her excellence, Georgie was a two-time recipient of the Australia Day Achievement Medallion, Department of Communications and the Arts.

Her reputation made her a sought-after figure in the industry. Yet, amidst numerous opportunities, Georgie remained ever grateful to Denis Moriarty AM @ Our Community.

In reflecting upon Georgie’s legacy, I am constantly reminded of her passion, dedication, and the indelible mark she left on the world of grant management. As her partner in both life and business, I saw firsthand the difference she made in every endeavour she undertook. It’s an honour to continue her mission and to uphold the values she held dear.

Warmly,

Geoffrey Clow
